Prep Profile - Gould Academy

In just their first season in the AA ranks, Gould Academy made a clear impression last year. Under the direction of head coach Cory McClure, Gould quickly established a reputation for individual improvement and collective competitiveness as they took on the best the NEPSAC had to offer and saw their players take their games to new levels in the process. The second season of Gould’s introduction to NEPSAC basketball will feature a largely new roster but the same principles that… READ MORE >

As we continue our tour through Class AA of the NEPSAC we now turn our attention to Mike Mannix’s program at Wilbraham & Monson Academy. The Titans have produced a surplus of successful college players in recent years with the likes of Wenyen Gabriel, Curtis Cobb, and Maodo Lo among a handful of others. This year’s roster may not have such well-known names, but they have a group of driven players who are bound to make a name for themselves… READ MORE >

Head on a swivel. That’s a common phrase in the coaching world, often used as a defensive instruction referring to seeing both man and ball. For Cheshire Academy though, the phrase was also consistent with their approach to the 2016-2017 season as they were undoubtedly always looking over their shoulder with the constant rumors of Chol Marial’s departure, albeit through no fault of his own. With Marial now officially gone (he transferred to IMG Academy in Florida), Cheshire can get… READ MORE >

Worcester Academy had the youngest team in AA last year and with that came both growing pains and valuable lessons. A year later and those youngsters are starting to grow up. There is a noticeable improvement in almost every returning player on the roster and so, while they are still relatively young compared to the rest of the league, this is a team that has their sights set on the post-season again. The Returners The individual improvements made from each… READ MORE >

The ’17-’18 season is officially underway now that the best prep programs in the nation made their opening statements at Albertus Magnus last weekend. I always like to let things sink in for few days before looking back on the action and taking inventory. It helps me to avoid being a prisoner of the moment and allows me not to make snap judgements based on the recency theory. That said, here are some of the things I took away from… READ MORE >
